A profound truth or a cruel oxymoron? I must admit to being in the former camp, despite struggling beyond the basics.

Arch-villains and superheroes

Abstract comic-book style, just missing the essential speech bubbles and sound effects ("Die!" "Aaaargh!" and not forgetting Kaboom!)

Triumph of the cherubim

What began as a search for a more general abstract form suddenly turned into this: I was reminded of vast dark canvases of scenes from religious mythology, their surfaces mantled with a network of hairline cracks, framed in ludicrously ornate gold Rococo.
Full view required to see the voronoi-induced cracks on the 'paint' surface.

The main feature

Some grain, and no doubt a little too much crackle for some, yet who can deny the power, the sheer arcing gravitational pull, of such a screen on the hushed auditorium?

One hundred into twenty-five

Inspired to try something with deliberately induced negative space. Despite the strict 100 squares, the manner in which the negative space has insinuated itself forces the viewer to contemplate 25 groups of 4 squares as the primary entities, reading almost as a sequence of comic-book scenes for whcih we we've somehow misplaced the faculty to interpret coherently. Stare long enough (at fullview, naturally), and faces shall surely glimmer back.

The inexorable encroachment of the parasitic viral mycelium of the x-strain of the triboarders spore :O
Colours tweaked in the GIMP for added luridness.

Ancient mosaic

This ancient piece of 'mosaic' flooring predates anything similar previously discovered. Not a true mosaic in that it isn't created from separate peices, rather the mosaic effect has been 'applied' after the glaze, whether deliberately by application of extreme heat or by natural erosion is still under fierce debate. The depiction is obscure, probably some kind of deity, but as little is known of the civilisation that created this city now only seeing light due to the rapidly diminishing ice sheets of Greenland, its elucidation will form the subject of much future study.

D-zyne

The very latest in faux-pale-gold-and-copper-enhanced brushed graphite interior bench-and-plinth units for that ultimate style statement.
