Manifest

see 'Manifest' at deviantART

#3 of the series 'The stuff of nightmares'. A little something for the entomophobics: what form of arthropodal deity and its mini-ons finds concretisation in your febrile and thrashing sleep?

That bruised and lunatic mouth

#2 of the series 'The stuff of nightmares'. Some outlandish rock-face of a rag-doll/robot head from the fevered dreams of Silent Hill.

Incursion

#1 of the series 'The stuff of nightmares'. One for the trypanophobics: a piercingly painful penetration that goes on and on... Absolutely needs full view!

The deconstruction of Thebes

see 'The deconstruction of Thebes' at deviantART

Deliberately applied a low stopping SL in chaotica to give that slightly pitted old-stone texture.

Over the rooftops

see 'Over the rooftops' at deviantART

A simple Sierpinski tile substituted with lazyjess - 'tis an awesome plugin for this style! I love the surreally recursive vistas of receding rooftops. Used the Stopping SL feature of Chaotica for the first time to retain a little grain.

Now I've gone totally tangential.

Harry Haller's magic theatre

see 'Harry Haller's magic theatre' at deviantART

Inspired by the hallucinatory denouement of Hermann Hesse's 'Steppenwolf'. Whilst the theatre is described as a horseshoe-shaped corridor with many doors, I've used artistic licence to depict a four-fold vision of an infinitely long straight corridor as the atmosphere felt perfect.

The sinew engine

A huge render, the better to appreciate the unique texture and colouring.

The wristwatch tin

see 'The wristwatch tin' at deviantART

A double Pythagoras tree carrying, I fancy, the look of an old biscuit tin, yet depicting fractal (ladies') wristwatches

The Temple of Absurd Delights

see 'The Temple of Absurd Delights' at deviantART

A nice big render, the better to see the detail in this hypnagogic vision apparently populated by entities somewhere between parodic Hindu godlets and flirtatious racoons. Splits-elliptic, would you believe!

Look ma, we're on the telly!

The universe watches itself... and wonders why it bothered.

My midnight garden

see 'My midnight garden' at deviantART

On certain nights of the year, if I enter the walled garden not by the main entrance, but by a low door in the far wall, concealed so as not to be visible to passersby, I find something other, a place of temporary enchantment, where is-ness is no longer singular but multifarious: flowers smile, and are mute elves in ekstasis, with patterns that are insect forms seeking nectar. Banana-moustachioed Santa Claus dogs grin beneath watchful benign single eyes, all the while the boomerangs holding sway.

Words courtesy of a particularly extensive mojito, the first of the season.

A surreal vision of a self-sweeping public space.
